What a wonderful, if not hot and steamy summer we’ve had here at the Jersey Shore. There really wasn’t a bad weekend to be found. We escaped most of the rain with plenty of beautiful beach days. Sadly as with all good things, summer is coming to its final hurrah. Labor Day closes up much of the tourist activity for the season. So let’s get to it and find out what’s happening Labor Day Weekend at the Jersey Shore.
Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo hit the stage at the Count Basie Theatre on Tuesday August 31st. The show starts at 8:00pm. Here’s some more info on the show from the Count Basie Website:
The leading female rock vocalist of the 1980’s, Pat Benatar is a certified rock and roll superstar, a 9-time Grammy nominee with an unprecedented four Grammy Awards in a row for Best Rock Performance (Female), and 7 platinum and 3 gold albums to her credit. With her husband of 28 years Neil Giraldo on guitar, hit singles such as “I Need A Lover,” “Heartbreaker,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Hell Is For Children,” “We Live for Love,” and “Love Is A Battlefield” became anthems for a new attitude.
(P.S. If you’re looking for good eats before the show, we highly recommend Danny’s Steakhouse on 11 Bridge Avenue or Basil T’s on 187 Riverside Avenue in Red Bank. Both are super easy to find from the Comfort Inn Middletown)
Thursday, September 2nd features Jackson Browne with David Lindley at The MAC on the Monmouth University Campus. Doors open at 7:00pm. More info from the Monmouth University Newswire:
The Jackson Browne with David Lindley Tour follows the May 11 release of Love Is Strange, a 2-CD live set capturing a tour of Spain that Browne and Lindley did in 2006. Browne is no stranger to Jersey Shore concert events. In 2007, he was joined onstage by Bruce Springsteen for six songs during a benefit performance at the Two River Theatre in Red Bank, and his other recent concerts in the market have been rapid sellouts.
Asbury Park will kick off it’s Friday night Beach Bonfire events on September 3rd at 7:00pm, the exact location is TBA but shouldn’t be hard to find. The event is weather permitting and judging by the forecast as of today, should not be an issue at all. Update: August 31, 2010. As of today Hurricane Earl is projected to affect the Jersey Shore area on Friday, September 3rd, check the Asbury Park Boardwalk website here for event details and updated information.
The Long Branch Jazz & Blues Fest will be Saturday, September 4th 12:30pm to 10:00pm, admission is free. The Great Lawn on the Long Branch Promenade (next to Rooney’s).
The close of the Long Branch Jazz and Blues Series in West End Park. This music series and finale is supported by the city of Long Branch, especially the Long Branch Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) and Barry Stein. Spend a beautiful day listening to Jazz and Blues at the shore in dramatically redeveloped Long Branch. Enjoy the great “end of summer” party! We’d like to thank The City of Long Branch, the UEZ and Barry Stein for helping to make this possible again.
The Jersey Shore Premium Outlets will have their annual Labor Day Weekend Sidewalk Sale, just in time to get ready for back to school. Enjoy extra savings on top of the every day savings of 25% – 65%. The outlets are covered but predominantly outdoors for a fresh air shopping experience.
