5 Best Things About the 4th of July at the Jersey Shore

The celebration of the 4th of July is one of the best things about summer and a show of patriotism to our great nation.   It also brings many people into New Jersey for fun, rest and relaxation.  The influx of people, also means… you guessed it, traffic.  In the interest of making the most of your valuable holiday weekend time, I’ll give the 5 best things closest to the Comfort Inn Middletown-Red Bank.

KaBoom! Fest Fireworks on the Navesink has long been a draw to the Red Bank area for 4th of July. It is the largest fireworks display in the state of New Jersey according to the Kaboom! Fest website. Truth be told, the event is much more than the fireworks. There is Kaboom! Fest Amusements with rides and games for kids starting on Thursday, July 1 through Saturday, July 3. The KaBoom! Rock the River concert will be on Friday, July 2nd and of course the KaBoom fireworks on Saturday July 3rd.  Launched from two barge locations, Garden State Fireworks of Millington, New Jersey shoots over 10,000 shells, all choreographed to an eclectic mix of popular and patriotic songs. For all event information and updates, refer to Kaboom! Fest website.

Red Bank can also be a traffic nightmare, but we have a quick and easy way!  It may sound silly, but the best bet to get from the hotel to the fireworks is by driving or taking a cab to the Middletown New Jersey Transit Station and taking it one stop south (towards Bay Head) to Red Bank.  From the Red Bank Train Station you can walk to the best fireworks locations without worrying about parking and all of that unfun nonsense.  Bridget, whom I refer to as “Mrs. Middletown” when I have questions and is our weekday guest service agent, strongly recommends taking a cab to the train station in case parking is an issue there as well.
