Donnalyn Giegerich, Mrs Red Bank US 2010 will be competing for the Mrs New Jersey US crown at Monmouth University on Sunday, May 16th at 5:30pm. Her cause is to raise awareness for rare cancers. Please come and support a lifelong Red Bank resident, business owner, community service leader, dual rare cancer survivor, athlete and speaker.
Donnalyn Giegerich MBA,CIC,RYT is co-owner of Heritage Benefits Group, a producing partner for Couch Braunsdorf Insurance in Red Bank, NJ and an avid athlete who enjoys golf, sprint triathalons, strength training and yoga. Her hectic life was changed — but not interrupted — when she was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer in 2007. After a complex 10 hour kidney auto-transplant surgery, general radiation, cyber-knife radiation, and six months of chemotherapy in 2007 she is Cancer Free! Throughout her recovery process, Donnalyn continued with her business and daily life while maintaining a regimen of exercise which included running, cycling and swimming.
Donnalyn is a former Adjunct Professor of Finance and Economics at Monmouth University’s Graduate School of Business and Brookdale Community College. She is a mentor for Women-Unlimited, Inc. which provides leadership training for high potential Fortune 500 corporate women. She has served as director on numerous business boards and has won many awards for her community service initiatives and business leadership. Donnalyn has been awarded by EMACC with the coveted Spinnaker Award TWICE for her many contributions to the organization and the community at large.
Raising awareness for rare cancer is one of Donnalyn’s many passions. Her resume is about as diverse as they come. She is a truly empowered woman who has taken charge of her life and destiny. Her zest for life and beloved causes will inspire you. I had the pleasure of meeting Donnalyn at the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council’s monthly breakfast in March of this year. She took me under her wing and invited me to attend one of her Friday “Tweet N Eats” that had come highly recommended by Bill Atkins from Red Bank Limo. For anyone looking to jump into the “Twitterverse” this is the place to start. Donnalyn will give you the confidence to fearlessly go forward. ( She eats her “Tweeties” for breakfast after all.) I am familiar with Twitter as many of you may know, but my theory is, “be taught, you never know what you’re going to learn”. I saw it as a great opportunity to spend time learning/talking about a social media platform that is just going to keep growing with an area expert. I was not disappointed.
